Splits

I am so jealous that mom got to be in Florida. I want to go to Bok Tower, mom should send me some pictures of it please! I miss Florida and the trip sounds amazing. Did everyone survive back home without mom?
The photos are me and a mountain that me and another elder drove up one day cause we were bored and we were looking for someone in his area who lived up there. We were on splits that day. His name is Elder Hunt. He is the one I sign with a lot cause we both want to learn sign better. He’s a super cool kid he was a dj before he came out on his mission. He is older and has a lot of experience. He is almost 23. He is super fun. He is with my old companion Elder Kligge.
This week was all right, nothing too exciting happened. We had kind of a normal week we did a lot of going out and looking for people to teach, like always. We also went by people who had told other members that they wanted to meet with the missionaries then we go and knock on their door and that doesn’t last long. They usually say they never said anything like that. But for the most part they are all nice and good to us which is nice. We still don’t have any investigators but we have more opportunities every day to share the gospel with our fellow brothers and sister in the Riverside Mission. Just a question for everyone out there to ponder I want to know what are some of your favorite conference talks past or present? Everyone report back to my mom and she will pass along your favorites to me.
Since we have smart phones now and I’m still trying to be happy about that I am grateful that we can listen to conference talks so easily now. I listened to two talks that I thought were really amazing, the first one is "Medicine for the Soul" by Sterling W. Sill and the other one is "Purifying Power of Gethsemane" by Bruce R. McConkie. That last is so so powerful and amazing. But I know that mom will be really excited to hear that I was listening to Elder Sill.
I am supposed to be using Facebook now. I think I will make a new one and just call it Kodren H. Egbert and then post on my old to go follow my new one while I am on my mission.
Thanks for all the prayers and emails and everything! I have to go now. I love you all so much!!!!!!!

I love technology...NOT!

Hey!
We are officially technology missionaries and are using our phones fully now They work as our regular phone now, it’s pretty exciting. We are allowed to use Facebook BUT we have to go into our Facebook and unfollow everything! Unfollow all our friends ,not unfriend them just unfollow them, so we don’t get the news feed. It’s confusing! I HATE TECHNOLOGY!!!!! But I have to learn to use it because it is one of the tools the Lord has provided for us to share the gospel with everyone. I was not super excited when I learned we were getting phones and I’m still not super excited but I’m learning to use the tools that have been provided for me and that’s what is important. We do still come to the library to email cause it is easier.
We had a dinner last week and it was cool. I learned these people’s son is serving in the Denver North Mission! So look out for an Elder Gonzalez from Riverside! He is in Brighton I think she said, so Grandpa and Grandma may know him. But its cool he is serving back there at home. Sister Gonzalez fed us on St. Patrick ‘s Day so we had some good food and she is super nice!
Other than that nothing much is going on. Still no one to teach. I love people(sarcasm)!! We were walking on the street the other day and we got called a cult twice. People were swearing at us left and right we had one guy say to us after we asked him if he knew anyone who would want to hear our message " I love my friends, I would never refer them to people like you". It was kinda frustrating but we keep going cause we know the power we carry as messengers of Jesus Christ. So even though it is one of the hardest things ever, we have to love EVERYONE we talk to. Luckily we got permission to go to the gym twice a day so that helps a lot with stress and I’m getting less fat so that is good. I’m still learning sign language so that’s fun! I actually like it a lot!!! I wish there was snow here, it’s just super hot all the time. I did get to interview with President Hammon this past week, it was great. I love Pres. Hammon, he is a great man! He is having us all create a vulnerability plan now that we have smart phones. When we are using our phones, if we feel like we are vulnerable to do something we shouldn’t, we had to make a plan to do something specific. It’s a plan so we won’t be stupid basically. It is a pretty good idea, you guys should make one at home.
So, that was my week. I love you!

Jealousy

Hi mom!
Well, I’m super jealous!!!!!!!! I love the photo but I am so jealousI would give anything to be at the conference thing with those three people. That is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (He got a photo of our family with Hank Smith, John Bytheway, and Meg Johnson after a Saturday Keep on Rollin’ conference when we all got to hear them speak.)
You are at Coors Field? I miss baseball so much. Me and Elder Brown talk sports a lot! Especially right now cause it’s baseball season. I didn’t think I would miss baseball as much as I do but, what can I say, it’s a part of me and probably always will be.
As for right now, we are finding some more people slowly but surely! The work will always go forth. There is a document called the standard of truth written by Joseph Smith that our mission president asked us to memorize and it is very cool. You should use it in seminary or something like that. It is really amazing to me, the inspiration that prophets and apostles have. That’s why I don’t understand why people won’t listen to the truth about prophets and the book of Mormon. I love it so much!
Transfers happened as well and I am staying with Elder Brown! This makes me happy cause he is a great example of what a missionary should be. This is his last transfer so we are going to make it the best of his mission! We did have to move apartments and that was kind of a pain but it’s over so it doesn’t really matter too much. Oh, and I am learning more sign language! An elder named Elder Hunt and me are talking to each other almost everyday in sign cause we live in the same complex so we do a lot together. Here’s a couple random pics we took the tall elder with dark hair is Elder Hunt the other one is Elder Willes, he is a Chinese speaking elder he is super cool.
Also this week we had the chance to go concert by the organist of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which was really amazing. Wow the spirit there was absolutely amazing. That is another thing I am learning more about is how amazing music with the spirit and since we only listen to talks and hymns basically we always have the spirit.
So that was my week! I do have a couple of questions for you. Mom, how is the family scripture reading going? Have you guys gone to the temple lately? Those are things I am learning the importance of everyday and I want my family to have as many blessing as they can cause I love you guys!
I love you!! Have fun at Coors Field!! Tell my team and the family hi for me!
Love Elder (Kodren) Egbert

Landscape

The pictures: the first one is sunset that was taken off of our porch so that was pretty cool, the second one is an airplane base that we drove by one day and it was amazing. If I serve in that area we get to do service for the airplane place and work on airplanes. The third one is the same thing and the fourth one is the moon, it just looked cool, and I know how much mom loves the moon.
Sorry for Seviah not being in that Sunday school class. I miss Bro Mike so much he helped me so much. I miss his crazy stories and all the fun we had in that class. But life moves on!
This week was pretty slow. On Sunday DJ, the man who was baptized a couple of weeks ago, received the priesthood and that was pretty amazing to be part of and to share in that experience. He is such a great man. He is already asking how he can share the gospel with others! He is a perfect example to me!
Other than that nothing much is really going on. We are trying to get the members in our area to get more missionary minded which is always fun haha. How is our ward back home doing on being missionary minded? Are there any cool stories and how is the family doing on that?
I do miss home that’s the only hard thing. But I know, I know, I have angels round about me to boost me up and I know my family always has my back. I love you guys thank you for everything and for supporting me. Tell everyone else I love them.

Transfer and catch up

I am so far behind on this blog but I am promising to do better and to catch everyone up with the adventures o...
